investigations of major misconduct lodged against
personnel and Reserve Deputies Recommending appointments
to all classified, non-classified positions
- Conducting
Reserve Deputy applicant investigations
Receives personnel complaints
- Makes
position vacancy announcements for vacant positions
within the Sheriff’s Office
- Assists
in disciplinary procedures
- Issues
badges
- Maintains
the departments employment and disciplinary records
- Recruits
employee candidates at universities and public events
- Request
lists of qualified applicants from the Jefferson
County Personnel Board
- Conducts
investigations at the direction of the Sheriff
- Performs
research and policy recommendations
- Manages
the Student Intern Program
The
Internal Affairs Division is comprised of the following

Sgt. Emma Moore is assigned to investigate complaints
and/or incidents exclusively in the B'ham and Bess Jails
internally or externally. She also reviews all inmate
grievances for responses and/or investigation if necessary.
