Jefferson County Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Hale established the first professionally trained Chaplains Program in office history through the Birmingham Baptist Association. This program utilizes many professional volunteer clergy from our community to meet the needs of our personnel and victims in times of crisis. They are responsible for providing support for members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and their immediate families upon request. Chaplains also are called on to assist as needed, upon the line-of-duty death of a Law Enforcement Officer in Jefferson County or any adjacent county, to assist family members of any victims during critical incidents, and coordinate funeral arrangements with Honor Guard and Motor Scouts.
